Our Clients

The Hoffman Group has successfully advanced the goals of some of America’s most prominent corporations, national advocacy groups, foundations and news organizations. We build high-profile, successful operations and put fledgling ideas, campaigns and businesses on the national map.

Examples of Our Work:

Voice of the People Launches at National Press Club
Voice of the People: The Hoffman Group helped our long-time client, public opinion expert Steven Kull, with strategy, branding, message, collaterals, and outreach efforts as he worked to build a new nonpartisan organization with a bold new mission. Voice of the People (VOP) is working to give the people a greater voice and help break Congressional gridlock by creating a national Citizen Cabinet. Joining VOP Founder Steven Kull at the launch event were former U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND); former Governor and U.S. Representative Mike Castle (R-DE); former U.S. Representatives Bill Frenzel (R-MN) and Martin Frost (D-TX); and Wendy Willis, Executive Director of the Policy Consensus Initiative at Portland State University.

Police Chiefs and Chicago Mayor commemorate 20th Anniversary of Brady Bill signing
National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence: The Hoffman Group consults for the National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence (“the Partnership”), a coalition of nine national law enforcement leadership organizations. Pictured left is a press event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Brady Law signing that we organized for the law enforcement coalition, in partnership with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP). Held at the Chicago Police Department, speakers included Chicago Superintendent of Police Garry F. McCarthy; Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel; Downers Grove, IL Police Chief Robert Porter, President of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police; and Baltimore, County, MD Chief Jim Johnson, who chairs the Partnership.

Military Leaders
Human Rights First: Gail Hoffman was instrumental in bringing together a coalition of retired Admirals and Generals to work through our client, Human Rights First, to promote interrogation and prisoner treatment policies that reflect our Nation’s laws, values and security interests. Hoffman worked to orchestrate meetings between the retired military leaders and eight presidential candidates of both parties during the 2008 election. Sixteen members of the group stood with President Obama on his second full day in office as he signed the Executive Orders ending torture.
“The individuals who are standing behind me…came to both Joe and myself, and all the candidates, and made a passionate plea that we restore the standards of due process and the core constitutional values that have made this country great, even in the midst of war, even in dealing with terrorism. They’ve made an extraordinary impression on me.”
President Obama speaks of Human Rights First’s retired military leaders coalition, January 23, 2009
“I spent a couple of hours with 12 different general officers from the Navy and the Army and the Marine Corps. It was a very fascinating discussion. I share the same view that Colin Powell does, that every general officer that I know in the military shares, and that is that when you engage in torture [you don’t get reliable information and violate military code].”
—Governor Huckabee in Fox News interview after meeting with the group
“As a matter of policy [torture] cannot be American policy period. I met with those same three and four-star retired generals, and their principal point – in addition to the values that are so important for our country to exhibit – is that there is very little evidence that it works.”
—Senator Hillary Clinton, in interview with Tim Russert

What Others Have Said About Our Work:

“Gail is a superb strategist and subject matter expert who has an extraordinary ability to bring people together and make things happen, even around complex issues where consensus might not seem possible.  Gail and her team produce high-quality collaterals with compelling messages, create tremendous opportunities to deliver those messages, and thoroughly prepare spokespeople to shine before public appearances.  Gail has increased the visibility of the National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence (the Partnership)—a coalition of nine national law enforcement leadership organizations—and has been personally responsible for its successes.  Gail is mission driven, a true professional and a pleasure to work with!”
Chief Jim Bueermann (Ret.)

“Gail Hoffman thinks big, drives hard, and doesn’t let up until you reach your goal. She is a strategic thinker, a persuasive advocate, and—perhaps most importantly—doesn’t flinch in the face of the roadblocks that arise in any campaign. Human Rights First has benefited greatly from Gail’s creativity, passion, and hard work. Gail makes winning fun; she is our secret weapon!”
